My research interests cover the applications of applied mathematics, with a particular emphasis on
- signal and image processing and extraction of information from images,
- numerical solution of PDEs and data assimilation,
- applications to biology, bioprocesses, geology.
I am also interested in theoretical aspects (numerical schemes for PDEs, nonlinear optimization in large dimension). My activities can be classified in the following items (follow the links for illustrations, and see the papers for more details):
- Inverse problems, parameter identification for partial differential equations and shape optimization
- Model and data coupling, extraction of information from experimental data
- Image processing, image registration, motion estimation in fluids
- Graetz Problem (convection-diffusion in a translation-invariant geometry)
- Modelling the growth of multicellular tumor spheroids
